“With this piece I sought to explore deeper material sustainability by using only repurposed materials from Home ReSource, where I was an artist in residence in September-October 2022. The imagery in the piece draws inspiration from the valley I grew up in, a verdant landscape in the Driftless Area of SE Minnesota. The deer is drawn from a photograph from my dad's game cameras and the plants incorporated in the composition are wild bergamot and Japanese barberry, two highly prevalent plants in the valley” - Ian Hanesworth
