Bison Adjacent Creature T-Shirt

Have you seen them - the Bison-Adjacent-Animals? Large and blue, these gentle creatures love to hang out in areas quite similar to where one might spot a bison. Going to the National Bison Range? Try looking across the road, you might catch a herd of these animals grazing nearby.

They love to spend their days doing activities which align closely to tasks bison may enjoy. But are they bison? No! Here are some distinguishing facts about the two species:

- Bison are the largest mammal in North America. Male bison (called bulls) weigh up to 2,000 pounds and stand 6 feet tall.

- Bison-Adjacent-Animals are nearly the largest mammal in North America. Male B.A.A. (called mulls) are pretty big, no one is sure quite how much they weigh but they have been described as “rather large seeming, kinda bison-ish sized”

- Historians believe that the term “buffalo” grew from the French word for beef, “boeuf.” If you call out “Come here, beef! Beef!” A bison probably won’t come over, but a B.A.A. will more often than not respond to this call and come galloping to you!

- Bison calves are sometimes referred to as “red dogs” because of their orange-red fur color. What is the nickname for a baby B.A.A? A blue hog!

- The average lifespan of a bison is 10-20 years. Bison-Adjacent-Animals seem to be immortal.

- Bison are nearsighted, and most Bison-Adjacent-Creatures are farsighted. Neither animal tends to wear glasses, though. Silly!
