LAINE BONSTEIN - RATTLESNAKE CREEK DAM

Laine grew up in the tri-state area and worked as a performer, actor and creative in New York City for the better part of ten years. Over the course of her tenure, she gained extensive performance experience ranging from Shakespeare and Chekhov to devised theatrical works and nontraditional movement performance. Laine performed in numerous “experiments” with The Institute for Psychogeographic Adventure (IPA).

During the latter part of her time in New York, Laine and her collaborator developed the folklorists: a performance group that develops dance surrounding the invisible pathways of women and the rituals that keep us alive; this collaboration led to her first forays into writing, directing and producing as well as a creative focus on the feminine experience as fodder for interpersonal understanding.

Laine’s current work continues this exploration of emotional mapping as a practice toward inclusion, perseverance and generational responsibility. Laine is thrilled to work with Open AIR during their inaugural season, and she is anxious to stretch her writing practice as well as challenge the pace and presentation of her movement.
