Tsutaja is a Tokyo-born multimedia artist based in New York since 2006. Her narrative based projects have been exhibited internationally including: Material Art Fair, Mexico City, Mexico (solo, 2019); Collar Works, Troy, NY(2019); Harold B. Lemmerman Gallery, Jersey City, NJ (2018); Ulterior Gallery, New York, NY (solo, 2017); Richard and Dolly Mass Gallery, SUNY Purchase, NY (2018); Youkobo Art Space, Tokyo, Japan (2012); Visual Arts Center of New Jersey, Summit, NJ (2009); Quartair Contemporary Art Initiatives Exhibition Space, Hague, Holland (2007); Center for Contemporary Graphic Art, Fukushima, Japan (2004); Kunsthallen Brandts Klaedefabrik, Odense, Denmark (2002); and Fukuoka Art Museum, Fukuoka, Japan (2000). Her solo show exhibited at Shirley Fiterman Art Center at BMCC, New York, NY in September 2019. She was a recipient of a two-year research-fellowship from CCA-Kitakyushu (1998-2000) and a resident artist at Aikiyoshidai International Art Village (2004); chaNorth Art Residency, Pine Plains, NY(2018).
