ABOUT
Home ReSource is a community sustainability center in Missoula, MT committed to reducing waste and building a more just, vibrant, and sustainable local economy. They collect and sell reusable building materials, channel materials to those in need, educate the community with the knowledge & skills necessary to reduce waste, and provide leadership & expertise to move Missoula toward its Zero Waste goal. As a triple-bottom-line nonprofit business, they bring environmental, social, and economic benefits to the community they serve through their retail store as well as their Materials Giving, Work, Volunteer, Education, and Zero Waste Community Support Programs.
Since opening in 2003, they have helped put approximately 16,000 tons of building materials back to work in Montana homes, offices, playgrounds, gardens, dog houses and bird houses, authored the Missoula Zero Waste Resolution & ZERO by FIFTY Zero Waste Plan, reached over 3,000 5th graders through their Zero Waste Ambassadors Program (ZWAP!)—a STEM-aligned, inquiry-based education program, donated more than $55,000 in supplies to schools, nonprofits, and others in need through their Materials Giving Program, and benefited 300+ individuals through mentorship, skills training, part-time work, and references for those experiencing barriers to employment (at-risk youth, veterans, people with disabilities or histories of addiction or incarceration) through their Work and Youth Programs.
